Westview Meadows
Assisted Living with Alzheimer’s Unit
Montpelier, VT
The new residents of the Westview Meadows
Assisted Living facility in Montpelier, VT had previously enjoyed
the country-style freedom and warmth of their traditional family
homes. Mindful of this, the owners of Westview Meadows enlisted the
CURRIER design team to create a state-of-the-art senior living environment
that was designed to help residents make a comfortable transition
to their new condominium style homes and lifestyle. Westview Meadows
addresses the needs of both assisted living residents and Alzheimer's
residents within the same building. Special attention was paid to
the details of the Alzheimer's unit to assist residents with the
new challenges of their daily life.
To accomplish this with sensitivity
to residents’ concerns, CURRIER consulted with a committee of residents
to obtain their input regarding the home’s overall look and feel.
The final design was put to consensus vote and approved by an
inclusive mix of residents and the owners staff.
CURRIER created a warm, homelike environment
that reflects nearby mountain vistas, while serving staff and residents’ needs of convenience, comfort, low maintenance and affordability.
The interior color palette was designed
to reflect and promote harmony with the home’s impressive setting, a picturesque hillside with majestic mountain views. The colors are crisp yet warm, and the overall design reflects the look of an upscale country home. Throughout Westview Meadows, furniture and products were chosen for form as well as function. Important emphasis was placed on furniture style, to ensure that all pieces were ergonomically correct and scaled for the safety and comfort of elderly residents and their visitors.
Throughout the facility, a variety of offerings
promote the feeling of community and family between the residents.
Whether meeting in the Library for cards, the Country Kitchen for
coffee or the Beauty Salon for a ladies chat session, residents
enjoy Westview Meadows as their home.
CURRIER completed this project in 2004 and
fulfilled the client’s goals of providing
comfort, safety, functionality, convenience and affordability for residents.
