Dear Reader,

April showers bring May flowers, or so we hope! With Springs growing season approaching, we begin to enjoy the outdoors and our gardens, which are so very beneficial to our health and well being. Young or old, outdoor areas with flowers, bird watching and butterflies help to raise our spirits as well as vitamin D levels. An outdoor office, for those of you who work at home, can be a very productive alternative to the indoor office. We’ve included an article on how to convert your gardening shed into a great workspace. During the colder months or rainy days, an indoor garden can provide a little therapy and joy.

Whether you are creating an indoor or outdoor garden area, we hope you find this information useful.

Enjoy!

Therapeutic Gardens for Alzheimer’s

Therapeutic gardens, specially maintained gardening facilities that help people remain connected with nature, provide benefits for a wide variety of people who are ill or recovering from illness. They are used to help people recovering from surgery in healthcare facilities, for those who are undergoing physical rehabilitation and for individuals with Alzheimer's disease who are living in special care residences or who are living at home.

How to Create an Indoor Healing Garden

A healing garden offers you a place of beauty and tranquility. It is a place where your body, mind, and spirit can find quiet restful moments and a place for absorbing positive energy. Some people have the misconception that in order to create their very own personalized healing garden they must have sufficient outdoor space, and the time and talent to grow a large variety of herbs and flowers. You can create a healing garden in a small indoor space that requires little time to maintain and may contain only one or two low maintenance plants.

Turn Your Summerhouse into a Home Office

Rather than take up space in your home, work in your summerhouse...

Don't have space for a home office? Why not turn your shed into an inspiring place to work.

Decorating ideas:

  • Pick a small desk and comfortable chair. If you have space go for a cozy sofa where you can relax when you need a break from your laptop.

  • Choose clever space-saving storage, such as a wall-mounted magazine rack or a compact shelving unit, both are ideal for keeping paperwork, books and files in order.
