Universal Design is a term that we hear about more and more. Many people don’t know exactly what it is and how it affects them. By definition, Universal Design is the creation and use of products and environments that are usable by all without the need for adaptation or specialization. Some concepts behind Universal Design include: having a no-step entry door for easy access, one-story living, wide hallways and doorways and lever door handles. The intent of Universal Design is to simplify life for everyone by making products, communications and the environment usable by as many people as possible. Universal Design benefits people of all ages and abilities.
We have included three articles that further explore Universal Design and how it impacts our society today and in the future.
Enjoy,
